Having been legitimately declared as president-elect and deputy president-elect by the Supreme Court, the duo’s first assignment would be to form a cabinet.
Assembling a cabinet is not a picky picky ponky business. Far from that history has shown that these positions are correctly calculated and awarded to party loyalists, politicians who backed the campaigns of the incoming president, and technocrats who master-minded election strategies and campaigns.
Some of these positions are claimed while forming political coalitions way back during the campaign season.
During the campaigns, Willaim Ruto promised that 50 percent of the positions would go to women. He also promised a third of the positions to Western Kenya as Mt.Kenya leaders also maintain they significantly contributed to the Ruto-Gachagua win.
According to the constitution, the cabinet comprises the president, deputy president, and the attorney General, and not less than fourteen yet not more than twenty-two cabinet secretaries stewarding different state departments.
