How to prepare mandala garden
MANDALA GARDENING
OBJECTIVES
To double dig the garden so that it can trap more moisture including run-off during precipitation and conserve the same.

MATERIALS
Tape measure
Sisal twine
Pegs
Plain jembe
Fork jembe
Spade
Timber
PROCEDURE
Measure almost a circular area in form of a pod with the mouth facing upper side of the land to be able to trap run-off. The area to be dug should have a width of 1m. Mark small portions of about 1m for ease of digging. Double dig this area by removing the top soil and putting aside to be able to loosen the sub-soil. The top soil from the first portion will be used to fill up the last portion. Mix the top soil on the bed with well decomposed manure at the rate of 1 debe per m2. Level the bed for planting.
The centre should have a diameter of 1m and make a hole of 0.6m deep. This will be for storage of excess water from runoff so that it can percolate slowly in
