As the political drums intensify, every Dick and Harry is jostling to stand out as the most popular among voters come August 2022. A number of our politicians have declared their interests for the top seat including even the current speaker of the National Assembly. With the current pandemic situation, many of their campaigns have been reduced to private meetings, in house invitations and church services. One candidate, the current Deputy President William Ruto has furnished his ambitions by wooing the local mwananchi with his 'hustler' slogan which has gripped on quite a number of voters. Technically, he is now the man every other candidate wants to beat including his long time ally the president of Kenya. Having openly differed with Ruto, Mr. Uhuru has now decamped to support his long time rival Raila Odinga. It may be seen as a move to outwit William Ruto but will the narrative of building bridges be able to squash the now mighty hustler-wheelbarrow initiative targeting the common mwananchi and the youth who by the way are the majority of voters?
