President Uhuru Kenyatta as President of Kenya and Chairman of the East Africa Community has declared 7 days of mourning in Kenya and for the Kenyan flag and the East African flag to fly at half mast throughout the territory of Kenya and in our foreign missions across the world in solidarity with our brothers and sisters of Tanzania on the passing of the late President John Pombe Magufuli of the United Republic of Tanzania.

President Uhuru Kenyatta then oversaw the lowering of both the Kenyan flag and that of the East African community at State House Nairobi to mark the start of Kenya mourning the late President.
