Have you ever found yourself so overburdened by worry that it resulted in such a high level of conflict that you almost became paralyzed by just thinking about the situation? Such an experience can result in either fighting hard against the paralizing fear or feelings of helplessness to the point of just giving up.

People worry about so many things in life even though they may be aware that they could do nothing about some situations but are responsible for changing their approach to situations. I have lived long enough to realize that worry emanates from a position of wanting to change or control a situation but feeling unable to control the outcome.

Some parents spend so much time worrying about their children, what they will become, what will happen to them when they are no longer here and many other unknowns. The reality is while they put their lives on pause through worry, they failed to realize that the children continued moving on to the extent that they never realized how long the emotional ties were broken.

Some people worry about how they would be viewed by others and try so hard to ensure that how they behave will win their admiration. Yet these individuals fail to come to terms with the reality that while they spend so much time worrying the other persons have no such time to waste.

We worry about tomorrow and its uncertainties as though they are realities by trying to do mental gymnastics about how we will get through or solve problems. Yet we fail to realize that no matter how much time we spend worrying about situations, there can and will be no change in the current situation.

One of the key lessons that I have learnt in life is not allowing myself to be so affected by what I have no control over but letting go in order that I could experience true freedom from fear and worry. Paul reminds us in Philippians 4:6 'be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made to God'.

When you and I experience the true joy that can be accrued from a living connection with God we will never allow ourselves to be anxious or worry about anything. I know how to let go and let God. I know how to surrender my will to God's for he always has total control over everything that concerns me so worry goes through the window. What about you? Have a blessed Sabbath.
